The Equality Act Public Sector Duty – April 2011 places a statutory duty on some organisations – particularly in the public or related sectors to promote Equality.
For detailed information about the requirements of the act itself, please visit our the on line resources page of our website. There is also some additional technical information provided within the Resources section at the bottom of this page.
How Can McKenzie Help ?
McKenzie offer bespoke, interactive and engaging one day development events to provide a detailed understanding of the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty and to impart guidance, advice, confidence and resources in respect of practical and proportionate implementation.
For the uninitiated, the requirements of the duty can often seem a little daunting and somewhat of a burden on resources.
We specialise in both demystifying the requirements of the duty whilst also providing practical guidance and examples of best practice.
This will obviously vary depending on your individual needs and requirements but will typically include an exploration of:
Capturing, analysing and publishing Equality information for employees and service users
Assessing the impact of your activities via Equality Impact Assessments or Analysis
Agreeing proportionate and measurable Equality related objectives
Monitoring and reviewing outcomes – including effective consultation
Development of proactive initiatives to ensure your organisation promotes inclusivity and Equality of access/opportunity.
Developing an overarching Equality and Diversity strategy
We offer modern, interactive and practical guidance in respect of meeting the requirements of the Public Sector Duty. All events are facilitated by senior McKenzie consultants with comprehensive experience of the practical application of all aspects of The Equality Act.
We can also supply, if required, template documentation and guidance notes developed to reflect the very latest standards in this area. For example, Equality Impact Analysis documentation, Equality monitoring documents, template Equality and Diversity strategy framework and action plans etc.
Please contact us to find out more about how we could work with you in this area.
Very detailed guidance about the Public Sector Duty has been published by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
